Vivacy Stylage is a French brand of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers that vary in viscosity (S M L XL) to improve wrinkles. We look at how it compares to the Juvederm brand, one of the best-selling brands in the world.

How Do Stylage & Juvederm Compare?

Juvederm products have high G prime (a measure of the hardness of the gel), but with medium to high cohesivity, resulting in a gel that is smooth and malleable, yet is able to resist deformation.

Stylage’s unique characteristic is the presence of mannitol, an antioxidant that protects against free radical damage within the skin layers. Mannitol helps to improve the stability and longevity of the gel in the dermal tissue, so the product lasts longer and is not broken down as quickly. The anti-oxidative effects of mannitol can also decrease swelling and bruising after treatment.

More Differences Between Juvederm & Stylage

Stylage is formulated using IPN-like Technology, where individual cross-linked matrices transform into a monophasic gel, by undergoing an interpenetrating network-like (IPN-like) process.

This further increases the density and degree of cross-linking without any need for an additional cross-linking agent.

In comparison, Juvederm products, are made using Hylacross or Vycross Technologies, involving a single cross-linking process. In Vycross, high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid chains are combined together to form a monophasic, monodensified gel.

These different manufacturing processes result in gels that have different physical attributes contributing to the way they integrate with dermal tissue. Juvederm products show a more cohesive consistency whilst Stylage has a lighter, less dense structure with fewer continuous networks. When Stylage is injected into the dermis, the gel evenly distributes among the area of treatment in large pools.
